A Girl and her Dog

An old drawing for a short story I wrote a few years ago. The story didn’t have a title, but I named this drawing after the movie ‘A Boy and his Dog’, which is a fun, quirky post-apocalyptic film from the 70s that’s based on a short story itself.

Drawing this majestic fucken unicorn as a gift. Put about 10 hours into it so far over the past two days, hoping to have it finished tomorrow night! Haven’t worked in pencil in some time. I am enjoying it. Equine anatomy hurts my mind though.

My husband Ed draws some really awesome pictures, and sometimes we do some collaborative efforts where I ink a drawing of his. I love his style of art, but it’s a lot different than mine (although we both love the same subject matter), so I aim to keep the integrity of his original. I have always really dug the organic, asymmetrical style of armour he draws, and he has an incredible knack for drawing badass monsters on a whim. This weekend is his 27th birthday, and also marks our 10 year (!) anniversary together (He is turning 27, and I’ll be 26 later this year - yeah, we have been together that fucken long! I hardly believe it haha)
Cheers to that!
